I read an article recently that said the U.S. may be headed for a butter shortage soon. I’m not entirely sure why. The article included a link to a chart that did not help me at all, so I’m skeptical that this article might just be an excuse to sell butter churns.

But what if it’s true?

A butter shortage?

During the holidays?

I’m not sure a still recovering and fragile nation could take that right now. We’ve been through so much.

This could be the last straw. If there was anything that could finally cause us to go over the deep end, it’s a lack of butter. We could be facing a nationwide revolt — even secession. Especially down South in the Butter States.

But what about our popcorn?

How will we butter our toast or make cookies?

How will we baste our turkeys or whip up delicious, decadent frostings?

How will we…just eat butter. You know those people are out there. Butter eaters and strict keto dieters.

I’d like to think our government has a plan to deal with a butter shortage, but I’m probably just kidding…
