For the past few months, I’ve wanted to track my blood sugar on my computer. I want to visualize trends, generate reports, etc. I’m a charts and graphs kind of guy. I don’t use a continuous glucose monitor. It would be much easier if I did. I could use an app and my smartphone to easily track all the data. Instead, I use a regular ol’ Contour Next EZ. It’s the second meter I’ve used, and I like it a lot. There is a jack on the side of the meter and one day I decided to investigate its purpose. I was surprised to learn that it was for a data cable.
A data cable that is now only made by third-party manufacturers.
Not a big deal. I did some more research and found a third-party able on Amazon. It was not cheap, but I wanted to see if this would provide the functionality I wanted.
The standard software for my meter is GLUCOFACTS Deluxe. I downloaded it along with the drivers for the cable. I figured I’d try the software without the drivers first to see if it worked without them. I don’t like to install drivers if they turn out to be unnecessary.
The installation went smoothly, but when I double-clicked the icon…nothing. I tried again. Again nothing. I rebooted the computer and double-clicked one more time. You guessed…
